Reading our figures

When we give the cost, timeline or outcome of a real project, we are summarizing accounts that are publicly and widely reported. Construction costs are reported in many different ways: some totals include land purchase, financing, professional fees, fit-out or later repairs, and others leave them out; older figures may or may not be adjusted for inflation. That is why we use approximate language and do not present any number as a definitive audited total. If an exact figure matters to you, consult the primary source.

We do not audit

We are a small editorial team. We do not carry out independent audits, site visits or forensic cost reviews, and we do not claim to. Our articles bring together and explain information already in the public record. Where accounts disagree, we try to say so rather than choose between them.
